How to Teach Kids to Share?

Children can be really possessive about things. When they are just beginning to learn about sharing and collaborating, they require guidance and support along with fun, playful, and enjoyable activities in order to help them better understand these concepts. Here are ways you can teach your child to share:

·         Take turns. You can start with quick back-and-forth, like tossing or rolling a ball, in order to teach your child how taking turns work. You may even say, “my turn” and “your turn” whenever the ball is passed. Card games and board games too are great way of learning to take turns.

·         Share with your kid. Be a role-model for your child by sharing your favorite snack or spot on your couch with your child or someone other.

·         Read. Choose the books that are about sharing, suggests a teacher at the play school in Dubai. As you are reading through the story, ask your kids how the characters on the book might feel, and what they must do, and what your kid predicts would happen next.

·        Make music. You and your child can try tapping out a tune on xylophone; encourage your kid to take turns with the tambourine or the drum. You could work together too and count out the beats.

·         Build something. You and your child could workout a strategy ahead of the time and thereby take turns stacking and arranging materials and blocks, as it is done in the preschools in Dubai. Playing Jenga is great way of teaching child to share, as it is about taking turns.
